Introducing the Kodo Constant Force Tourbillon SLTG005 from Grand Seiko, the latest chapter in our legacy of precision and innovation.
Crafted with the same groundbreaking technology that earned the SLTG003 universal acclaim, the SLTG005 continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking. Its unique blend of a tourbillon and constant-force mechanism on a single axis ensures unparalleled accuracy and performance.
Where the original Kodo evoked the enchanting twilight, this new rendition celebrates the serene beauty of daybreak with its silver-toned movement components, casting a radiant yet refined glow. The inclusion of blue sapphires in the watch's jewels, a first for Grand Seiko, mirrors the ethereal hues of dawn. Employing Platinum 950 for the inner case and Brilliant Hard Titanium for the outer case establishes a resilient yet visually striking dichotomy, complemented by select components Zaratsu polished to achieve a flawlessly reflective surface.
The inner tourbillon carriage completes a full rotation every 60 seconds, synchronized with the balance's eight beats per second. Simultaneously, the outer constant-force carriage moves precisely at one-second intervals. This orchestration results in a harmonious blend of the active escapement and the constant-force mechanism, akin to the rhythmic pulse of a reassuring heartbeat (Kodo is Japanese for heartbeat). This symphony of movements, reminiscent of a musical 16th note, serves as the inspiration behind its name.
The absence of intermediary components between the tourbillon and constant force mechanism ensures consistent torque transmission to the balance wheel, resulting in a stable 50-hour duration for the constant force mechanism and improved balance amplitude for enhanced movement accuracy. Caliber 9ST1 redefines accuracy and undergoes a thorough 34-day testing period, with individual performance documented in a certificate accompanying every watch.
The SLGT005 features a leather strap meticulously crafted from a resilient material, treated using traditional techniques reminiscent of those employed in crafting samurai armor. An exclusive white hue, specially developed for this timepiece, is achieved through natural tanning methods and hand-coated with layers of white urushi lacquer, resulting in a rich sheen and unique texture. A charcoal grey crocodile strap is also provided with the watch.
